"Great Pageant Tips"

GENERAL

  • Prepare for your state pageant with the same passion you would preparing for Mrs. America. Always compete one level higher than the actual competition. You will perform better and be better prepared for the national Mrs. America Pageant.

PERSONALITY INTERVIEW

  • Business suit or "Sunday" dress.
    • Pant suits permitted.

SWIMSUIT

  • Panty hose are permitted . . . but not required.
  • One-piece mandatory.
  • Any color, pattern, or design.
  • Flattering dress heels. Many contestants wear "Fredreco Leone" or other fashionable taupe colored pageant heels.

EVENING GOWN

  • Full length chosen to present yourself in the best possible manner to the judges.

REHEARSAL

  • Very casual attire - relax before on-stage competition!
    • Jeans permitted.
  • Comfortable shoes - low heeled or tennis shoes feel wonderful while rehearsing!

HAIR & MAKE-UP

  • Arrive with make-up applied and hair styled.
    • There will be a limited amount of time to pin up hair for on-stage competition should you desire.
  • Private hair stylist or make-up artists are strictly prohibited on Pageant Day.
    • We are preparing you for the Mrs. America Pageant where you must be independent.

APPLICATION PACKAGE APPEARANCE

  • HINT: Typed versus handwritten is much easier to read.
  • You may choose to include additional pages expanding on the following categories.
    • Education
    • Employment/Career
    • Community Involvement
    • Hobbies, Talent, & General Background

ADDITIONAL EXPOSURE

  • Support your state pageant program while preparing for competition. Should you win, they will help prepare you for the Mrs. America Pageant event. Ad and ticket sales help fund the state competition and the winner for the national pageant.
  • Contestant's will automatically appear in the Souvenir Program Book as follows: Headshot photo, name, and city.
  • Optional advertisements are due February 28.

AUDIENCE SUPPORT

  • There is no better feeling than to have tons of family and friends cheering you on in the audience as you compete on stage during pageant competition.
  • Sell/buy at least the minimum 20 advance tickets requirement. You may choose to sell additional tickets to support the pageant.
  • $25 in advance due March 31. Tickets will be mailed to you April 15.
  • $30 at the door.
